Fairfax Cryobank's Successful Policy
on Donor Sperm Pregnancy Limits
Fairfax, VA Fairfax Cryobank, one of the world’s largest sperm banks, has been successfully implementing a strict policy on limiting the births from the use of donor sperm. Since 2008, Fairfax Cryobank has been carefully monitoring reported pregnancies and removing donors right away from their list of available donors once the limit has been reached.
Haimant Bissessar, President of CAN-AM Cryoservices, Inc., the largest Canadian distributor of Fairfax Cryobank donor sperrm since 2000, says, “We take pregnancy reporting very seriously and are diligent in following up on the pregnancy outcome of all the donor semen vials used by our patients. We have never had more than 16 pregnancies reported for any Fairfax Cryobank donor. It is very important to us that we comply with the Fairfax Cryobank pregnancy limit policy. We know they remove donors quickly once limits are reached. Fairfax Cryobank has had a strict pregnancy limit policy in place since 2008 and we are partnering with them to implement it successfully in Canada.”
The policy is in place for both US and International clients and states that a donor’s sales will cease when 25 family units (children from the same donor living in one home) have been reported in the US. International distribution stops when 15 family units have been reported. After the family unit limits have been met, vials will only be distributed for sibling pregnancies.
Based in Fairfax, VA, Fairfax Cryobank is one of the world's largest and most experienced sperm banks, offering unsurpassed donor testing as well as exceptional donor sperm, sperm storage and embryo storage services.
